Scott Hart

Mr. Hart is the CEO of StepStone Group. He also leads StepStone’s global private equity activities, focusing on co-investments. Mr. Hart is also involved in the Firm’s diversity and inclusion initiative and is a member of the board of directors.

Prior to joining StepStone in 2007, Mr. Hart worked at TPG Capital, a leading global private equity firm, where he focused on the energy, consumer, and retail sectors. Before that he worked at Morgan Stanley in the consumer and retail group within the investment banking division.

Jason Ment

Partner, President & Co-COO

Mr. Ment is the President and Co-COO of StepStone Group where he focuses on operational and firm management activities.

Prior to joining StepStone in 2010, Mr. Ment was general counsel of Citi Private Equity, a US$10 billion equity co-investment, mezzanine, and fund of private equity funds business. While at Citigroup, he was also the general counsel of Metalmark Capital, a middle-market private equity business, and Citi Sustainable Development Investments, a clean technology and renewable energy focused venture investment business. Before that Mr. Ment was a member of O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Mergers & Acquisitions/Private Equity Group and of McDermott Will & Emery LLP’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group.

Mr. Ment received his BS from Cornell University and his JD from the New York University School of Law.

Michael McCabe

Michael McCabe

Partner, Head of Strategy

Mr. McCabe is StepStone’s head of strategic planning and is a member of the private equity team. He is also involved in various investment and risk management activities and is a member of the board of directors.

Prior to joining StepStone in 2010, Mr. McCabe worked for Hamilton Lane, where he was a member of the investment committee and helped oversee the firm’s secondary and co-investment practices, which represented more than US$3 billion in committed capital from institutional investors. Before that he worked at CEMEX SA de C.V., a global building materials company, where he was a director on the due diligence team.

Mr. McCabe received his BS from Drexel University and MBA from Columbia Business School.

Johnny Randel

Partner, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Randel is the CFO of StepStone Group. He is also involved in various monitoring, management, and administrative activities.

Prior to joining StepStone in 2010, Mr. Randel was CFO and COO at Citi Private Equity, a US$10 billion equity co-investment, mezzanine, and fund of private equity funds business. Before that he was assistant treasurer within Citigroup Treasury. Mr. Randel has also worked as vice president of corporate analysis at Associates First Capital, which was acquired by Citigroup, and as a budget and forecast coordinator at Bank One.

Mr. Randel received his BGS from the University of Kansas and MBA from the University of Southern California.

Seth Weiss

Managing Director, Corporate Investor Relations

New York

Mr. Weiss leads Corporate Investor Relations at StepStone Group, where he focuses on crafting and communicating the StepStone investment narrative for investors and sell-side research analysts.

Prior to joining StepStone in 2021 Mr. Weiss led Investor Relations at E*TRADE Financial. Before that he was the lead research analyst covering the North American Life Insurance sector at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Weiss holds a BBA from the University of Michigan, an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Marcel Schindler

Partner, Head of Private Debt

Mr. Schindler* leads StepStone’s global private debt activities. He is also involved in various investment and management activities.

Prior to StepStone, Mr. Schindler was CFO at a publicly held financial company in Switzerland where he focused on equity investments. Before that he was a member of the European risk management team at Arthur Andersen. Previously, Mr. Schindler focused on commercial and mortgage lending at UBS.

Mr. Schindler received his MBA from the University of Zurich and is a CPA in Switzerland.

Jeff Giller

Partner, Head of Real Estate

San Francisco

Mr. Giller leads StepStone’s global real estate activities.

Prior to joining StepStone in 2014, Mr. Giller was a founder, managing partner and the chief investment officer of Clairvue Capital Partners, a real estate manager that integrated with StepStone to establish StepStone Real Estate. Before that he was a managing principal and chief investment officer at Liquid Realty Partners, an investment manager focused on real estate secondaries. Mr. Giller has also held senior positions in other real estate private equity investment firms in the US and Europe such as JER Partners and Somera Capital Management. Mr. Giller earned his BA from the University of California at Berkeley and MBA from the University of Virginia.

James O’Leary

Partner, Head of Infrastructure & Real Assets

Sydney

Mr. O’Leary leads StepStone’s global infrastructure and real assets activities. He is also involved in various investment, management, and portfolio management activities.

Prior to joining StepStone, Mr. O’Leary founded KPMG’s infrastructure investment advisory and asset management business, which merged into StepStone in May 2016. Before that he led Colonial First State’s infrastructure, real estate, private equity and agriculture platform, which oversaw more than A$15 billion of investments. Mr. O’Leary has also held roles in corporate finance, with Gresham Partners and practiced corporate law with Clayton Utz.

Mr. O’Leary received a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the Australian National University.

Tom Keck

Partner, Head of Research and Portfolio Management

Mr. Keck is StepStone’s head of research and portfolio management. He is also involved in the Firm’s responsible investing and risk management initiatives and is a member of the board of directors.

Prior to co-founding StepStone, Mr. Keck was a managing director at Pacific Corporate Group, a private equity investment firm that oversaw over US$15 billion of private equity commitments for institutional investors. Before that, he was a principal with Blue Capital, a middle-market buyout firm.

Mr. Keck graduated cum laude with a BA from George Washington University and received his MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He served in the US Navy as a Naval Flight Officer, receiving numerous decorations flying EA-6Bs off the USS Nimitz (CVN-68).

Thomas Sittema

Partner & Executive Chairman

Mr. Sittema is the Executive Chairman of StepStone Private Wealth. StepStone Private Wealth focuses on delivering private market solutions to high net worth investors.

Prior to StepStone Private Wealth, Mr. Sittema served as CEO of CNL Financial Group, a $10 billion asset manager providing access for individual investors to the private markets. Previously, Mr. Sittema enjoyed a 27-year career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch serving in a variety of leadership roles, including the U.S. Head of Real Estate Investment Trusts and Lodging Investment Banking Division.

Mr. Sittema received a BA from Dordt College and an MBA from Indiana University. He is a Director of the Florida Council of 100 and a past board chair of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives.
